68 cities - 424 neighbourhoods

Wow, what an incredible weekend – thanks to everyone - walkers, guides, volunteers and organizers - for doing a phenomenal job of creating the biggest and best Jane's Walk ever. Jane's Walk strolled into 68 cities worldwide (29 in Canada, 32 in the U.S, 7 internationally) including San Juan Puerto Rico, La Paloma Uruguay, Goa & Mumbai India, Dublin Ireland and Madrid Spain.

The walks were the talk of the town – bloggers, tweeters, waitresses and taxi drivers weighing in on how great it was to have so many people out exploring, talking, connecting. The commonly heard refrains were “I love this”, “I never knew my neighbourhood was so exciting”, “I finally met my neighbours", “how come this only happens once a year!”

Coming out of the fourth annual Jane's Wak, people are feeling intensely positive about their neighoburhoods and the potential to engage in the social and built future of their towns and cities. Its heartwarming and awe-inspiring.

Some Jane's Walk centres did face challenges in the form of cold and wet weather but walkers prevailed in spite of the elements and in some cases bonded even more in the adverse conditions. In Dublin, guide Andrew Anderson the seven resilient walkers who came along for the Dodder River Wander ended up pretty much spending the day together hopping in and out of cafes, pubs and overhangs dodging the pelting rain and wind - but managed to take in the beauty of the historic river and cobblestone infrastructure around it. As in other years, where the walks were smaller, the conversations were intimate and in depth – where they sprawled out over the sidewalks and paths, walkers report that it was exciting and empowering to be part of something so simple but important.

The media is still buzzing – we’ve got a lot of it posted here in our ‘Press Room’ (under the 'About' drop down menu). We will continue to update it as articles, blogs and postings roll in from around the world. Send us more if you find them, and we’ll post them.

We are very keen on capturing feedback from all of you - tour guides, walkers, volunteers - while the walks are still fresh in your mind. Please go to the fillable form under the menu item 'Feedback' on top of this page. The form has no ‘required fields’ so you can comment as little or as much as you like. We definitely want to get your input so we can keep shaping and improving Jane’s Walk, both here and abroad.

And if you have photos of a Jane's Walk to share, please post them to flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/janeswalk2010/. If you don’t have an account and think this is the perfect excuse make one, you can do that here: http://www.flickr.com

From everyone at Jane's Walk - thank you so much for your interest and participation in the biggest and best Jane's Walk ever. See you in 2011 on the weekend of May 7 & 8.
