Guided by Spacing Halifax writers
The general theme of this Jane’s Walk is going to be change, transformation, and transition—the downtown is in limbo and we want to muse about it. So basically… we’ll spend much of the walk peering into holes where buildings used to be, then lifting the gaze to suss out new condo developments, then frolicking across sports field that await concert venues (i.e. the Commons).
There’s tons of local expertise on all kinds of transformations facing Halifax, and we have a small crew of folks who’ll be invited to join, speak, etc., but we’d also like it to be a spontaneous knowledge sharing experience, where any walker is invited to call for a quick huddle up to share a story, some info, critique, or idea. We’ll meet outside the Saturday farmer’s market, which is itself facing impending change, moving from the historic Keith’s brewery to a new state-of-the-art waterfront development.
Come wander the urban space, ponder the changes we face, and help to set the pace.
